VEHICLE TUNING SPECIALISTS
Welcome to our newly revised website.
Can my engine be fitted with one of your tuning units?
The Turbotune & Beta-drive are suitable for common rail fuel injection systems. These are fitted to the majority of diesel engines from 1999/2000. Usually your car's model designation will tell you if it is common rail. Tdci, Dci, CDT, CDTi, CRDi, CDi, I-CDTi - the C usually means it has common rail engine. If in doubt please ask. COMPREHENSIVE LIST HERE:
How does it work, is it digital?
Yes, all our products digitally remap the fuel pressure sensor signal in real time, increasing the amount of fuel injected to produce more power and torque from as low as 1200rpm.(depending upon engine).
What is the difference between analogue and digital tuning boxes?
Older boxes and most costing under £100 are analogue and tend to have a single adjusting screw or knob. These suffer from a major drawback - the adjustment alters the fuelling across the whole rev range. For example, if you use a setting which gives a very good low down and midrange increase, the engine then cuts out at high rpm (above say 3000rpm). If you turn it down so this doesn't happen, you lose the low down improvements. Analogue technology is just not adequate for modern diesel engine fuel control.
How do your modules differ from analogue and other digital tuning boxes?
Our digital mapping technology is far superior because it gives finer & more precise control and enables the fuelling at both the low/mid and mid/high rev ranges to adjusted separately. With some digital boxes, you have to specify when ordering what 'map' you want installed, or whether you want it for economy or performance. So there is only one map available to you without taking back to a dealer for reprogramming. You could think of ours as having 9 maps built-in covering economy and performance or the best of both, where others only have the one. Our products are also designed only to come into operation once the rpm increases above idle so on the overrun and when idling, the module is not altering the fuelling.
Will the MOT smoke test reading be affected? Do I have to remove the module for the MOT?
We have our own portable MOT approved smoke tester and have shown that the smoke readings on the vehicles we've tested are actually lower with the module fitted and switched on so there is definitely no need to remove it for the MOT. We also can produce a LCZ printout for our commercial vehicle customers so they can be confident that our tuning products will not result in any penalties. Smoke tests from Citroen C4 and remapped Mazda 52
Why should I choose a tuning box over a remapped (chipped) ecu?
REMAP: Not adjustable, not transferable, will be lost if dealer does a routine ecu update during servicing, possibly (definitely on recent models) detectable by the dealer, more costly (£250-500+) & often less effective at low rpm on common rail engines, broken seal on the ecu if opened. Maybe more effective at higher rpm than some tuning boxes, but how often do you use high rpm (3.5-4k) ? Many very recent vehicles cannot be remapped eg VW/AUDI/SEAT/SKODA, so a plug-in box is the only way to tune them.
Our plug-in modules: Plug-in fitting, adjustable, removable for warranty and servicing, transferable, better value, often better performance at low to mid rpm with superb torque. Transferable when you change vehicle (£15 for reprogramming if needed or £30 for recabling and reprogramming is needed - just call us to find out which if any option will apply)
Will my fuel consumption decrease?
Most owners find their vehicles' fuel consumption is reduced by between 5 and 15%. Some do better, some get no reduction, very few get less mpg. Those getting the same or no reduction tend to fall into one of three categories: a) they drive their diesel like a petrol - too many revs and too much gearchanging, b) are very gentle drivers who stick to 50-60mph, or c) use the enhanced performance frequently but still achieve the same mpg as the standard vehicle, thereby having the best of both worlds!
NB YOU MUST GIVE THE ENGINE ECU TIME TO ADAPT TO THE MODULE - this can take a few days so it is pointless fitting the unit and driving a few miles and expecting to see an instant fuel saving. To be fair to us and the unit and to obtain an accurate result, leave the unit on one setting and monitor the consumption over at least one tank of fuel. If you switch it off or change setting, allow a few days before re-measuring the consumption. THIS IS ONE REASON WHY WE OFFER A 30DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. You can rest assured that we do not make false claims. If you aren't happy, just send it back within 30days for a refund.
Is the vehicle warranty affected?
We advise removing the unit prior to visiting the dealer for servicing or warranty work. Some of our competitors are proclaiming in large text on their websites that your warranty isn't affected. We suspect that if you found the small print, it would simply tell you to remove the unit. In fact you can appreciate that the only after market products that don't affect the warranty are those supplied by the manufacturer AND fitted by a franchised dealer. NONE will cover diy fit modifications unless sold by them and to our knowledge their are no diy fit products of this type on the market in the UK.
TUV APPROVAL - not needed for the UK and this saves you money.
Our competitors trumpet this as a selling point, but it means nothing. TUV is a German Standards agency and NO product can be fitted to a vehicle in Germany unless approved. This costs £1000s and adds significantly to the retail price. Since we don’t market our products in Germany we avoid this cost and pass on the savings to you.
So not having TUV approval does NOT mean an inferior product.
ISO9001 CERTIFIED.
ISO9001 is a Quality of Service standard and refers only to how you manage your business. It has NO relevance to the products sold or how good they may or nay not be . Some of our competitors are displaying the logo when they are not entitled to.
LOGO FACTS. Don’t be fooled by those official looking logos on other websites..
CE APPROVED.
There is no such thing. CE marking is a self certification of products to show that they meet certain technical standards, mainly relating to electromagnetic interference and susceptibility. Again other companies are implying they are somehow approved when that is impossible.
